Smartbaby Decor creates designs based on what a baby is capable of seeing at different stages of development. Instead of having a plain burp cloth or walls that are a single color, we’re using these surfaces to provide interesting and engaging target practice for your little one. Other than setting up your child's room (which only takes a few minutes with our easy-to-peel wall decals), you don't have to do anything else! By having our products out and about, using them when you need them (like a burp cloth after feeding), you’re giving your baby’s eyes plenty to see and think on.

When your baby is older and they’re ready for some interactive play, you can have fun together with our Visual Play Cards. Until then, sit back and let our products do the work!

Our products are divided into three collections based on the ages they are optimized for. Our Welcome Home Collection is optimized for brand new babies. Ready for Color is best for four months of age and older, and See Play Learn is perfect for babies eight months all the way to school age. While the designs are optimized for vision at each of these stages, children of any age can enjoy them. If a design catches your eye and isn't in this exact age group of your little one, not to worry! Our pieces have so many layers to them, they will still encourage growth and development.

Yes! We have a dedicated collection for children with visual impairments and special needs called Feel the Love. This collection features wall art with sensory and tactile components, including braille. Plus, we have high contrast pieces and the ability to customize sizes if needed.

The “Smart” in our name refers to the design of our products. Elevating common nursery decor and essentials so they are based on scientific evidence of how babies see and think is what makes our items “smarter” than the rest. We believe all babies are already super smart! We simply want to help them along their journey of seeing and learning all the amazing things they are capable of.

You may notice, especially as your baby reaches 4-6 months of age, they start getting REALLY interested (or distracted) by things they see. We’ve heard of babies who will crane their necks to look at our Lighthouse or gaze longingly into Willow the Whale’s eyes, which we love! But you may be trying to feed your baby or put them to bed and are wondering whether our visually interesting products are a little too interesting! While being visually engaged is AWESOME and the whole point of our products, we understand there is a time and a place for fun and other times for sleeping and eating. If you notice your baby is more interested in our designs than their meal or nap, it might be time to move it away from their immediate sleeping or feeding areas. Luckily, moving our products is fast and easy! Another option is to make sure your baby is sleeping in complete darkness (as experts recommend) so the designs can’t be seen until it's time to wake up, open the curtains, and say hello to their friends again.

Smartbaby products are designed to add touches of visual interest to nurseries, playrooms, and kid’s spaces. Our collections build on each other in order to give your baby time to become familiar with their surroundings before new pieces are added. This is a great way for kids to experience and notice measured changes in a stable environment. That being said, every baby is unique and if you suspect any of our products are causing distractions, feel free to move them to a new location.

Our wall art works best on flat walls and surfaces but will still stick to lightly textures ones, although the ability to reposition the art may be slightly less. A light amount of smoothing pressure on the decals will help reapply the wall art to textured surfaces.

All our products comply with the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) for children’s products. While some companies apply for exemptions to safety testing and/or test products in house, we choose to use a third party lab to ensure our products pass all criteria without any bias. In addition to following the CPSIA guidelines for all our products, we are also proud to produce one of the safest wall art decals on the planet! Most wall decals are made of plastic (usually polyvinylchloride or PVC) which can contain phthalates and other harmful chemicals. Not only do these chemicals pollute the environment during the production process, but the end product (meaning the wall decal itself) can actually emit volatile organic compounds (or VOCs) into the air for weeks or months. Definitely not what you want next to your sleeping baby! Even products marketed as phthalate-free may contain toxins in the ink or adhesives. At Smartbaby Decor, we did extensive research when selecting the material we use for our wall art. It is an adhesive fabric with no vinyl components. And when we say it is non-toxic, we mean the material, the adhesives and the inks. How do we know? We send our wall art to be tested by a certified independent third party lab, which includes testing of the adhesives, packaging and every color of ink we use. Most wall decals can bypass the CPSIA guidelines mentioned above since they can be categorized as home decor, and not a children’s product. We choose to categorize our wall art as children’s products and test them against the highest standards. We are so proud of the rigorous testing our wall art goes through and hope you (and your baby) can breathe easy knowing their space is as safe as it is cute.

First of all, we applaud the amazing hand-eye coordination and pincer grasp! Secondly, no, you should not worry about this. You may notice this behavior with our See Play Learn collection in particular because the wall art is likely being placed at your child’s level, near the floor. Plus they are starting to reach and investigate anything new - we take that as a good sign! If your baby peels the characters off the wall, it means they are curious, interested and most importantly can SEE what’s in front of them. If the art ends up squashed in a ball, you can usually pull it back apart and restore it, depending on the extent of the squishing. If it ends up in their mouth, don’t be alarmed, this material has been safety tested. Of course, you should be removing it from their mouth since it can potentially pose a choking hazard. If this keeps happening and you are concerned, feel free to move the art to a less grabbable location until it's ready to be played with.

Our products are shipped in materials that are recyclable or home compostable using a carbon neutral shipping carrier. Our wall art is also made of recycled materials and is repositionable so you can use it over and over again. Our operations are partially powered by solar energy. As we grow, we will continue to work towards improved sustainability and reducing our carbon footprint any way we can to leave a better future for our children.

We currently ship within the United States, including Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands. All purchases ship via a carbon-neutral carrier.

Free shipping applies to recipient address in all 48 contiguous United States and the District of Columbia. Shipping rates will be calculated based on weight at checkout for delivery to Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands.

All unused and unopened merchandise can be returned for a full refund minus return shipping charges within 30 days of delivery, just in case you change your mind.

Every item is designed by Dr. Dash, a pediatric optometrist with over a decade of experience working with children of all ages, teaching pediatric vision at the university level and conducting research. She started Smartbaby Decor with her husband, Dr. Larry, also an optometrist with over a decade of experience working with children. All products are inspired by years of working with their patients, but also in pursuit of creating visually engaging spaces for their nieces, nephews, and their son.
